Hawa Cat The Storm is part of the Genesis Print Collection — the first Hawa Cat art print collection.

This is a commanding contemporary digital work featuring Hawa Cat in the storm. With oversized, piercing eyes, bold graphic patterning, and a textured atmospheric background, this piece sits between pop iconography, digital painting, and powerful figurative simplification. It is playful, but also psychologically charged.

THE STORM. “I feel like this is about 50% of my life: being in a storm, watching, waiting, and wondering how it will turn out. It is very beautiful and scary.”

The specific brown of the hair and the greenish-blue moody storm make this one of my favorite pieces. This is a more subtle and complex Hawa Cat piece.

This piece has a minimal color palette. I usually use very bright, clean colors, but this one captures the atmosphere of a rainstorm.

The background is made with digital painting and overlays from apps that had cloud effects. I have a whole collection of abstract video art, which is where I got this background from. I like to take the technology and manipulate it until it is how I like it. That Collection is called Moving Lightly and is on the Video & NFT page

I use AI sometimes and different tech. People want to complain, but I can draw. I had to study that for years. The real point is to create something that you really like, that looks beautiful, and communicates your message. Everything is a technology. Paint is technology. Paintbrushes are technology. Imagine when the first person had a store-bought paintbrush — it must have been a huge controversy!

I learned to paint in school and graduate school, and we had to study how to make our own paint by adding pigments and medium. It was very nice, and there were some beautiful colors back then.

Hawa Cat is not a cat at all. It is a personification of being very aware, very sentient, and extremely intelligent — not that cats aren’t. But the human eyes are what make Hawa Cat human. We are all just waiting for the storms to pass so we can have fun, more fun, and better times.
